The healthcare industry is expanding. These are the other trends we are seeing.

MICHIGAN—The healthcare industry in Michigan has grown by nearly 20 percent in the last decade, and is currently the largest private sector employer in Michigan.

Over 602,000 people work in the state’s industry according to an analysis of hospital data by Crain’s Detroit, but Michigan’s healthcare companies are not done hiring just yet — far from it, in fact.

According to the Pure Michigan Talent Connect Database, a collaborative effort from three state organizations tasked with developing the state’s workforce, healthcare jobs are among those that are in high demand as Michigan heads into the fall flu season.

Currently, the database, which can be found here, is offering more than 9,000 healthcare jobs.

In total, more than 10,000 of the jobs being offered are COVID-19 related as well.

Among the employers hiring in the healthcare department are:

-Mercy Plus Home Healthcare

-Alliance Home Healthcare Services

-Cherry Health

-Davita Dialysis

-Cigna

-Peoplefirst Rehabilitation

Among the jobs being listed are the following positions, which vary considerably in terms of experience levels and duties:

-Nurses

-Speech pathologists

-Laboratory scientists

-Emergency care specialists

-Respiratory therapists

-Patient care specialists

-Secretaries

-Dental assistants

-Machine operators

-Pharmacy technicians

Under the COVID-19 section, a wide variety of jobs have been listed for people seeking working during the pandemic.
