There’s no shortage of fun things to do in Michigan. The only trouble can be tracking them down and keeping tabs on the events around the corner, especially those in your area.

If only there was some sort of events calendar that you could come back to that helps you keep track…

Look no further. We’ll update this page every week with the top events going on. And we’ll push the most recent events to the top of the page. On weekends when there is a lot going on, we’ll even break it up geographically to ensure easy searching.

Weekend of Friday, July 7

Saline Celtic Festival

Price: $8-18

Where/When: Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds in Ann Arbor, Friday and Saturday, July 7-8

Come for the live music, dancing, glasswork displays, and so much more! This cultural immersion is a favorite festival of locals, and it’s coming from a new location this year. One favorite activity: a table where you can find out more about your family name and Irish clans.

National Cherry Festival

Price: Mostly free

Where/When: Traverse City, July 1-8

It’s the final weekend of one of Michigan’s favorite events: the National Cherry festival in Traverse City. This weekend packs a punch too. Pie-eating contests, pit-spitting contests, and fireworks are coming your way. And of course, there’s also the Cherry Royale Parade, where you’ll see this year’s prince and princess and area bands. West Michigan Business and Craft Fair

Price: Free to attend

Where/When: Downtown Muskegon, Saturday, July 8 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This is the ninth annual West Michigan Business and Craft Fair. Local businesses from around the region promise hands-on activities, great gifts, and tasty food. It’s also right up the street from the Muskegon Farmers Market.

Weekend of Friday, June 30

Soo Locks Tours and Engineering Day

Price: Free

Where/When: Sault Ste. Marie at the Locks, Friday, June 30

Soo Locks Engineering Day is free to the public. The headline: You can tour the Locks and get up close to big barges and freighters. There are even boat tours! Thirty vendors will also be in attendance.

Bay City Fireworks Festival

Price: $2 to $5, more for VIP experiences

Where/When: Vets Park and Wenona Park in Bay City, Thursday, June 29-Saturday July 1

Bay City is having its annual three-day Fireworks Celebration from Thursday to Saturday. You can take in fireworks, live music, and shopping for as little as two bucks a day. There are more concerts and even a carnival throughout the weekend too, though that will cost a little extra.

Ypsilanti Jazz Festival

Price: Free

Where/When: Riverside Park in Ypsilanti, Saturday July 1 from 6 to 9 p.m.

The Ypsilanti Jazz Festival starts back up this weekend and will run through August. First, it’s Girl Power night. See Lady Sunshine and the X-Band at 7 p.m. Just remember to bring your own chair.

Weekend of Friday, June 23

Wine Festival

Price: $10 online/$15 in person

Where/When: Fenn Valley Vineyards in Fennville, on Saturday, June 24

Go to Fenn Valley Vineyards for a wine festival with live music, food tents, and, of course, wine tasting.

Olive Burger Festival

Price: $20

Where/When: Jackson Field in Lansing, 12-7 p.m. on Saturday, June 24

This is the inaugural olive burger festival in Lansing, one of the best places in Michigan to grab this unique burger.

Michigan Lavender Festival

Price: $9 a day which includes parking

Where/When: Eastern Michigan State Fairgrounds in Imlay City, June 23-25

This is a big three-day event celebrating Michigan lavender with dozens of activity and food tents and entertainment.

Marshall Blues Fest

Price: Free

Where/When: Downtown Marshall, Saturday, June 24

This annual downtown festival has an outstanding blues lineup. It’s free, and Marc Stone headlines. The event welcomes you for “blues, brews, and food.”

St. Ignace Car Show Weekend

Price: Free

Where/When: Little Bear Arena in St. Ignace, June 22-24

This is the 47th annual St. Ignace Car Show weekend, and the packed schedule includes games, an award show, and a parade.

Weekend of Friday, June 16

Gus Macker 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament

Price: Free

Where/When: Stearns Park in Ludington, Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18

Gus Macker basketball is in Ludington for the final time. The three-on-three hoops tournament takes place Saturday and Sunday with family fun, a dunk contest, and high-quality basketball. 

Lansing Juneteenth Celebration

Price: Free

Where/When: St. Joseph Park in Lansing, Saturday, June 17

Lansing is celebrating Juneteenth with a festival Saturday. Juneteenth marks the actual end of slavery in the US. There will be a parade, 5K, and fun activities to mark the occasion.

Lilac Fest

Price: Free

Where/When: Downtown Mackinac Island through June 18, 2023

If you’re around, stop by Mackinac Island for the 75th annual Lilac festival. There will be walking tours, music, and more!

Weekend of Friday, June 9

Motor City Pride

Price: Free-$5

Where/When: Hart Plaza, Detroit, June 10-11

Motor City Pride is Michigan’s largest pride celebration. The festival is Saturday and Sunday at Hart Plaza, with a parade Sunday at noon. It costs $5 for the festival; the parade’s free. 

Frankenmuth Bavarian Festival

Price: $10

Where/When: Frankenmuth, June 8-11

Starting Thursday, head to downtown Frankenmuth to hear the music and see the dancing of the annual Bavarian Festival. Kids 12 and under get in free.

Rock the Block 

Price: Free

Where/When: Grand Rapids, June 10, 11:00am-4:00pm

It’s time to Rock the Block again this Saturday on Madison Avenue between Hall and Oakdale streets in Grand Rapids. This event features arts and entertainment, and it benefits racial and housing justice. 

Weekend of Friday, June 2

Festival of the Arts

Price: Free

Where/When: Downtown Grand Rapids, June 2-4

This festival has been going on for 50 years and is known for its food, music, dance, and, of course, art.

Detroit Grand Prix

Price: It ranges, but free on Friday for grandstands 1 and 9

Where/When: Downtown Detroit, June 2-4

The Detroit Grand Prix is back downtown. There will be events and races throughout the weekend, with Sunday hosting the grand finale, the Chevrolet INDYCAR Grand Prix. Friday is Free Prix day, meaning there will be free admission to grandstands 1 and 9 on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Alpena Flower Festival

Price: Free

Where/When: Downtown Alpena, June 2-3

With blocks of flower-adorned streets, the Alpena Flower Festival is a photographer’s dream. Throughout the weekend, you can see live music and build your own bouquet.
