The Barry-Eaton District Health Department (BEDHD) has announced two upcoming breastfeeding support events in celebration of National Breastfeeding Month this August. These events aim to provide a supportive environment for women, families, and the community to promote and celebrate breastfeeding. The events will take place in Barry and Eaton counties in Michigan, featuring a range of activities and resources for attendees.
Details about the events
The Barry County event, held in partnership with Corewell Pennock, is scheduled for Thursday, August 1, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Barry County Courthouse Lawn in Hastings. The Eaton County event will take place on Wednesday, August 7, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at AL!VE in Charlotte.
Each event will offer free milk storage bags and breastfeeding pads for the first 20 breastfeeding or pregnant mothers. Additionally, there will be free raffle items, including Boppy pillows and breastfeeding covers. Expert speakers will discuss the benefits of breastfeeding, and there will be opportunities for community members to share their breastfeeding experiences.
Organizations will be present to provide information and resources about breastfeeding, maternal and infant health, parenting, and prevention. A walking path featuring breastfeeding facts will also be available for attendees to enjoy. The events are open to all pregnant and breastfeeding individuals, community members, organizations supporting breastfeeding, and businesses interested in becoming breastfeeding-friendly.
Community partners interested in participating can register at bit.ly/BFsupportevent. For more information, contact Beth Erin at [email protected] or visit www.barryeatonhealth.org/breastfeeding.
