Renaissance fair season means fun times all around. Learn about all seven Renaissance fairs happening this year in Michigan.
Hear ye, hear ye! Michiganders of all realms and provinces, gather round, for there shall be a great fair coming to town! Expect artisans, athletes, musicians, and, of course, turkey legs galore!
For those who haven’t experienced them before, Renaissance fairs are annual festivals that blend historical reenactment, arts and crafts markets, immersive theater, and a county fair all rolled into one. A day at the Renaissance fair can include anything from watching a jousting tournament that ends in the winner being knighted, listening to a modern take on medieval music, buying a mystical souvenir to take home, and more. And, of course, Renaissance fairs are known for fabulous food and drink—most notably, giant turkey legs you can eat as you wander the fairgrounds, a la Henry VIII.
Sound like fun? That’s because it is! And in 2025, you can explore multiple Renaissance fairs across the Mitten. So, without further delay, grab your sword and scabbard and have a look at the Renaissance fairs coming to Michigan this year.
1. Royal Stagg Renaissance Faire
Where: 18935 15 ½ Mile Road, Marshall
When: May 10-11
For two days in May, Marshall, Michigan, plays host to the Royal Stagg Renaissance Faire. This event, which is one of the newer Renaissance fairs in Michigan, has two performance stages for music, comedy, theater, and more, plus a village full of tempting vendors. Best of all, in their push for an inclusive fair, admission is totally free!
2. Niles Renaissance Festival
Where: 401 Marmont Street, Niles
When: May 17-18
On May 17 and 18, with tickets just $10 per adult, the Niles Renaissance Festival returns for a weekend of family-friendly fun, including a special scavenger hunt for children. Come for music, swordsmanship displays, and a fabulous array of food and craft vendors, but watch out for the town Fool–he’s been known to heckle unwitting guests!
3. Irongate Medieval Festival
Where: 854 North Barlow Road, Lincoln
When: May 23-26
One of the newest Renaissance fairs in the Mitten, the Irongate Medieval Festival invites guests to “join the Renaissance revolution” at a three-day event from May 23-26. 4. Mid-Michigan Renaissance Festival
Where: 7464 Frankenmuth Road, Vassar
When: July 12-13, 19-20, 26-27

6. Michigan Celtic Festival
Where: 5055 Ann Arbor-Saline Road, Ann Arbor
When: July 12-13
Although not officially billed as a Renaissance fair, the Michigan Celtic Festival in Ann Arbor is full of the things that make Renaissance fairs so much fun! This celebration of Celtic heritage on July 12-13, where tickets start at just $8 per adult, features medieval performances and demonstrations from the Society for Creative Anachronism, weaponry shows by Ring of Steel, and Scottish and Irish music and dancing, as well as a guest appearance from eighteenth-century Highland regiment reenactors. Keep your eyes keen, and you might even spot Nessie and the wee folk!
7. Michigan Renaissance Festival
Where: 12600 Dixie Highway, Holly
When: Various weekends in August and September
One of Michigan’s largest and oldest Renaissance fairs, the Michigan Renaissance Festival in Holly has it all.
