MICHIGAN—Michigan’s cannabis scene is booming, with the industry making headlines every week as the state solidifies its spot as a top contender for the nation’s weed capital.

Here are seven stories you won’t want to miss this week:

TOP STRAINS: Leafly recently updated its guide to Michigan’s best marijuana strains. Superboof, Donny Burger, Lemon Cherry Gelato, and Permanent Marker topped the list.

WAYNE WEED: Wayne County regularly outsells the rest of Mid-Michigan when it comes to weed, accounting for more than 11% of the state’s $3.2 billion in annual sales, Axios reports.

RECALL ALERT: Bloom brand vaping products were reportedly recalled this week after state officials discovered they contained a potentially dangerous additive known as MCT oil. More than 18,000 of the 23,000 recalled vape cartridges were already sold to customers, including 15 different varieties sold at more than 120 dispensaries statewide, according to state regulators.

COUNTING SHEEP: Steve Neavling, a marijuana columnist at the Detroit Metro Times, has some great new recommendations for the best sleep-inducing cannabis products on the market.

LEGAL TROUBLES: Jackson-based marijuana processor Choice Labs and its parent company, cultivator Glorious Cannabis Co., entered into court-sponsored receivership last week as investigations and lawsuits pile up against one of their owners, Crain’s Detroit Business reports.

WEED 101: Baker College is reportedly offering new online courses in cannabis education—with three, nine-week certificate programs that cover the three sectors of the industry that have the highest job growth: retail, cultivation, and cannabis extraction.

UNCERTAIN TIMES: With President Donald Trump back in the White House this year, the future of federal cannabis policy is as murky as ever and the odds of meaningful reform feel slim, writes Chris Silva, in his latest biweekly cannabis column for the Lansing City Pulse.
