MICHIGAN — Whether you want to wind down at the end of the workday, prepare for your evening routine, or you’re just ready to light up the night—we know it isn’t always possible to shop for ganja goodies by COB. (You may have noticed your local dispensary ends their days earlier than a gaggle of grandmas who have just finished their early bird supper). 

So, why exactly do so many Michigan dispensaries close early?

While voters made the call to normalize, celebrate, and regulate both medicinal and recreational weed sales in the state, local governments still get to shape how—and when—those businesses operate. That’s why you’ll find many city ordinances bar sales after 9 p.m. and (usually) until at least 7 a.m. 

But when Michigan marijuana aficionados surged the state and hit a record $221.7 million worth of legal cannabis sales to close out December, dispensaries stepped up their game to meet demand. The world of weed buying is steadily catching up to the times as consumers and buyers hope for more convenient features, like contactless purchases, on demand delivery, and the ability to wrap a sale with a few mobile clicks. 

In the meantime, Michigan communities are deciding how to stay competitive in the business boom. Battle Creek, home to The Green Mile and one of the state’s newest city ordinances, now allows pot shops to stay open until midnight. They followed suit with nearby Emmett Charter Township, “which allows adult use and medical retail facilities” to stay open until midnight—but only on Fridays and Saturdays. A hop skip and a toke away is Kalamazoo, now home to a 24/7 dispensary via drive-thru. 

While there are a few notable “no hassle” shops like that across the state, most of them lock up between 7-9 p.m. So, we’ve rounded up 28 options across Michigan that serve until at least 10 p.m. most days of the week.

Cannamazoo

We’re kicking off this list with one of our most green-friendly communities, Kalamazoo. Home to the state’s first 24/7 dispensary, Cannamazoo lets you order online and pick up in person.

Doja

Racing ahead in the maryjane lane is Doja, now with two locations in Portage and Watervliet. Both locations are open around the clock for in-store shopping and online orders. Delivery is also available for their Portage location. Check the website for itinerary and promotions at both locations.

Lake Effect

Lake Effect is known for being one of Kalamazoo’s most established 24-hour drive-thru for both medicinal and recreational purchases. They recently opened a second location in Kalamazoo County, conveniently located right off I-94. Don’t miss the chance to see their sprawling 3,000-foot interior.

Kush Cab

While the West side of Michigan remains the most accessible for reefer seekers, medical patients can get free delivery until 2 a.m. anywhere (from residences to hotels and businesses) by using Kush Cab. A minimum order of an eighth or $50 in goodies will get you a free drop-off at your door. The ETA is 30-60 minutes, and you’ll need to show your card and ID.

Important Note: Kush Cab only accepts cash payments. Its menu boasts flower varieties and edibles, too.
