What’s a trip up north without some outdoor fun? We all love relaxing along the lakeshore and challenging our friends in cornhole, but ziplining offers a fresh way to experience Mother Nature. Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville is most known for its skiing and golf facilities, but it’s also home to the Edge Adventure Course: a four-element zipline course that lifts participants 20 feet into the air above the resort’s outdoor pool.
Each ticket includes two full laps around the course and excellent views of the surrounding northern Michigan landscape. The best part? You don’t have to be a guest at the resort to partake, so you can work a stop at Crystal Mountain into your family’s unique itinerary.

You can opt to purchase one run or two runs, and every ticket includes a short training session known as “ground school” to help you prepare.
Visitors should note that a trek is required to reach the zipline platform—come prepared to tackle 100 wooden stairs extending 80 feet upward, although accommodations are available for those with physical limitations.
