15 stops on Lansing’s beer and wine trail to satisfy your thirst

Get your drink on at these award-winning breweries, distilleries, and wineries around Greater Lansing.

Whether you fancy beer, wine, cider, or spirits, these stops on Lansing’s beer and wine trail are sure to quench your thirst. The establishments on this list come from not only the city of Lansing but its neighboring cities: Grand Ledge, DeWitt,St. Johns, Haslett, Williamston, Dimondale, and Mason.

You can keep track of your crawl around the Greater Lansing Area and earn points that can be redeemed for various prizes—like stickers, insulated water bottles, glass beer mugs, and more—by downloading the free, digital Lansing Craft Beverage Pass. The pass was created by the Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau as a way to encourage locals to visit all of the local watering holes that the area has to offer.

Burgdorf’s Winery

5635 Shoeman Rd., Haslett

In 2005, Deborah and David Burgdof turned their hobby of artisan wine-making into a reality when they converted their three-car garage into a winery, or what they call a “garagiste winery.” Burgdorf’s Winery now has a new facility for wine production at their location in Haslett, but the garage still serves as their tasting room/gift shop. 

On the last Wednesday of the month, Burgdorf’s Winery hosts Wine Down Wednesday—a private, reservation-only event that allows wine lovers from all over to enjoy discounted glasses of wine.

Michigrain Distillery

523 E Shiawassee St., Lansing

This Lansing-based distillery made its mark by taking home the Gold Medal for Taste at the MicroLiquor Spirit Awards in 2018 for its potato vodka. Michigrain products can be found in more than 150 stores, bars, and restaurants around the Great Lakes State. The distillery is also a great spot to watch a Lions game on Sunday afternoons, and their $3 pint special is a plus. 

EagleMonk Pub and Brewery

4906 W. Mt. Hope Hwy, Lansing

Opened by Sonia and Dan Buonodono in 2012, EagleMonk Pub and Brewery features twelve beers on tap along with several ciders and wines. The pub’s stone-fire pizzas pair well with any of the brewery’s signature beverages. The folks at EagleMonk love to party—that’s why their event calendar is packed with things to do every month.

Midtown Brewing Company

402 S. Washington Square, Lansing

With 46 draft lines, Midtown Brewing offers a wide variety of Michigan’s favorite adult beverages—as well as ten of their own classic beers—in addition to craft cocktails. On Tuesday nights, locals can test their wits and score discounted grub and drinks by participating in Midtown Brewing’s trivia nights. First, second, and third-place winners receive a Midtown Brewing gift certificate and other prizes. 

Sleepwalker Spirits and Ale

1101 S. Washington Ave., Lansing

Sleepwalker co-owner and head brewer Jeremy Sprague began selling his craft brews in 2012 at the incubator kitchen inside the Allen Neighborhood Center before eventually opening his own space in REO Town in 2019.Sleepwalker’s aesthetic was crafted through the lens of psychology. Most items on their drink menu are named after real psych diagnoses, like the Bavaria Hysteria Hefeweizen. Sleepwalker also hosts a variety of movie marathons, game nights, and other events.

Ellison Brewery

4903 Dawn Ave., East Lansing

Professional brewer—and Ellison Brewery owner—Aaron Hanson believes that the quality of the products comes first, and the rest is just details. The brewery offers a variety of craft beer, spirits, nonalcoholic beverages, and even coffee! Whether you come for brunch, lunch, or dinner, there’s space for you at Ellison Brewery. Speaking of space, Ellison Brewery’s second location in REO Town has a space that can host private events for up to 148 people in addition to a separate bar with an elevated music stage.

BAD Brewing Company

440 S Jefferson St., Mason, MI

In addition to being LGBTQ-friendly, this microbrewery in Mason is known for its extensive tap list that includes craft beers, hard ciders, hard seltzer, and seltzer slushies—all brewed in-house. Their shaded patio is home to outdoor events like comedy nights and live music during the spring and summer. During the winter, guests have the option to dine in one of BAD Brewing’s heated huts and/or greenhouse. 

Michigan Brewing Works & Garlic Farm

3435 Dietz Rd., Williamston

Originally built in 1895, the Michigan Brewing Works farmhouse in Williamston offers a variety of craft beers and spirits. The folks at this five-acre farm also produce their own garlic and honey, which is available for sale. Bring your furry friend and relax on the farm’s patio!

Dimes Brewhouse

What’s better than live music and beer? A night at Dimes Brewhouse, of course! Folks who join their Mad Chemist Beer Club will receive a lifetime of drink discounts and a 500mL Mad Chemist Club beaker to drink out of. While waiting for the next set to start, grab yourself one of Dimes’ signature grilled cheese sandwiches.

American Fifth Spirits

112 N. Larch St., Lansing

In 2015, American Fifth Spirits opened its doors as the first distillery in Lansing. From gin to salted caramel cream liqueur, the distillery has a variety of spirits to choose from. On Wednesdays, grab your friends and check out American Fifth’s game night to enjoy discounts on seasonal cocktails while playing one of the games from the distillery’s library.

BrickHaven Brewing Company

200 E. Jefferson St., Grand Ledge

BrickHaven Brewing Company was once home to St. Michael Parish’s choir and clergy in the 1930s and went on to house Grand Ledge’s city hall and the city’s police department. Now owned by brothers Ben and Ed Huston, the building has transformed into a brewery that is known for its craft beer and brick wood-fired pizzas.

Harper’s Brew Pub

131 Albert St., East Lansing

Harper’s Brew Pub—otherwise known as “Harper’s” by locals—has been satiating the thirst of East Lansing residents since 1997. The restaurant was named after the owner’s father, Thomas Harper O’Brien, a graduate of Michigan Agricultural College (now known as Michigan State University). The family-owned establishment welcomes folks to try out one the Pub’s reduced-gluten beers and handcrafted sandwiches. Looking Glass Brewing Company

115 N. Bridge St., DeWitt

Looking Glass Brewing Company occupies a 5,800-square-foot former church in downtown DeWitt. This brewery has a wide variety of craft beer, wine, mead, cider, and hard seltzer for its patrons to choose from. Grab your gal pals because on Thursday nights, Looking Glass hosts their weekly “Ladies Night” and provides discounts on select menu items. If that’s not your speed, their events page is always packed with comedy nights, live music, and more. 

Lansing Brewing Company

518 E. Shiawassee St., Lansing

Located in the heart of Lansing’s Stadium District, the Lansing Brewing Company—aka “LBC”— supplied craft beer to artisans, laborers, and tradespeople as they built the city. However, the momentum towards Prohibition led to the closing of the company’s doors in 1914. After resurrecting the brand 100 years later, the folks at LBC are one of the only full-scale production breweries in the city of Lansing. Folks can sip a variety of beer as well as spirits and wine near the same spot as the industrialists before them. From live music to yoga, there’s always something happening at LBC.

Ozone’s Brewhouse

Ozone’s Brewhouse has a tap room with an outdoor beer garden with at least twelve brews on tap, including a mixture of classic pub beers, barrel-aged creations, and several rotating selections. There’s also a “fire” food truck featuring a wide selection of pizzas, burgers, pastas, sandwiches, and plenty of vegan options to please the whole crew. Ozone’s Brewhouse also hosts a variety of local events and weekly specials.
