Michigan resort cancels women’s Mardi Gras contest, free skiing (The Detroit News): A Michigan ski resort has canceled free skiing for women and a women-only beads contest at its upcoming Mardi Gras event after receiving an anonymous email threatening legal action under the state’s civil rights law. Mount Bohemia said it scrapped the promotions on advice of counsel to avoid costly litigation.
Toddler found alive inside impounded car (WXYZ): A 13-month-old child was found alive inside an impounded vehicle at an Eastpointe tow lot after spending days alone in a car that had been parked on a metro Detroit street; the toddler is in stable condition and expected to recover. The child’s father is in custody and Child Protective Services is involved as the investigation continues.
Oakland County man arrested for allegedly smashing license plate readers (ClickOnDetroit): A Clarkston man is facing felony charges after police say he smashed multiple license plate reader cameras in Waterford Township, damaging them beyond use. The 24-year-old was arraigned on Feb. 27 and was released on a $500 cash bond, with a court appearance scheduled later this month.

“Join in the fun for the 61st annual Maple Sugar Festival. Each year we celebrate the first signs of spring, from the festival’s humble beginnings of a kettle on a tripod to today’s full day of activities with the all-important pancake breakfast topped off with real Michigan maple syrup.”
4. Grand Rapids Bourbon Fest
