Fellow Michigander,
Ready your rigs. Dab Day is almost here.
Every July 10—aka 7/10, aka “OIL” flipped upside down—stoners across Michigan celebrate cannabis concentrates in all their sticky, gooey, potent glory. So for this week, I’ve rounded up six of my favorite concentrates on the market right now, just in time to re-up your stash.
Keep scrolling for your usual rundown on the biggest cannabis news of the week, as well as a few can’t-miss Dab Day discounts to help you stock up without going broke.
Plus, I found a new disposable vape pen that hits like a dream and a pre-rolled joint that was so good it made shopping at Costco feel almost…peaceful.

I’ve been dabbing my way through dispensary menus in the Lansing area for the last few months—strictly for research, of course—and now I’m finally ready to share the results.
This week’s top story is stacked with solventless concentrates that hit smooth, taste incredible, and actually live up to the hype. Some have won awards. Others are just personal favorites. All of them are made in Michigan, and every one of them is worth melting into this summer.

BIG EXIT: One of Michigan’s largest cannabis operators is leaving. TerrAscend—the parent company behind Gage and Cookies—is pulling the plug on all 20 of its dispensaries and four grow facilities across the state. About 250 Michigan workers will lose their jobs as a result.
FAIRGROUND FLEX: Flower Expo is coming back to Michigan and bringing a two-day weed bonanza to the Allegan County Fairgrounds on Aug. 27 and 28. The trade show is designed for those who work in the cannabis business, with a big focus on product education for budtenders.
CRAFT CRUSH: Mi Loud, a small-batch grower in Jackson, is making big noise in Michigan’s flower scene for its focus on terpene-rich strains, slow cures, and medical-grade quality that hits way above the market average. Steve Neavling at the Detroit Metro Times has the full scoop.
JOINT SUPREMACY: Jeeter is officially the nation’s top-selling pre-roll brand, according to a new report that ranked US sales across 13 states. Michigan-based budget brands Cali-Blaze and Dragonfly also made the top 10, with Dragonfly moving more units than any other brand.
VAPE CRASH: The sky’s the limit—unless you’re Sky Labs. The Mount Morris-based processor behind brands like Bossy and Flight has officially lost its license and is shutting down operations after backing out of a legal fight with the state regulators over a laundry list of alleged violations.
SUMMER TOUR: Mitten Extracts is hitting the road for a statewide summer tour, bringing deals, limited-edition merch, and Michigan-made munchies to dispensaries across the state through September. Stops include The Bloomery, JARS, King of Budz, Levels, Timber, and more.
ROAD TRIP RECS: City Pulse columnist Chris Silva recently published his official summer travel guide for Michigan stoners—including suggestions for misty hikes in the Porcupine Mountains, sculpture park strolls in Marquette, and movie nights at the Getty Drive-In.

You’ve probably heard of 420. But what about 710? If you’re new to the world of cannabis concentrates, you might’ve seen the date floating around without understanding the hype.
|
Here’s the deal: July 10 is Dab Day. That’s because when you flip the date upside down, it spells “OIL,” a nod to cannabis extracts like resin, rosin, wax, shatter, and other potent goodies.
While 420 is about weed in general, 710 is more of a deep-cut celebration for fans of dabbing and vaping concentrates—and an excuse for dispensaries to roll out some stellar discounts.
New to the dab game? Don’t stress. You don’t need a blow torch and a glass rig to celebrate the high holiday. A live resin vape cartridge or an infused pre-rolled joint will do the trick.

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been slowly making my way through Sauce’s latest “Reserve” lineup of disposable, all-in-one, live resin vape pens—and honestly? I haven’t been able to put them down. But my favorite of the bunch has been the Jack Diesel.
|
This sativa strain is a certified mood-lifter. A lovechild of Jack Herer and Sour Diesel, it delivers a clean, creative, blissed-out high that’s great for daytime adventures or long, chatty hangs. You’ll feel it in your head first before it eases into a body high that’s calm but never couch-locky.
Expect earthy, herby notes on the inhale, with just a trace of sweet banana on the exhale. If only every disposable vape tasted this good, I’d probably end up smoking significantly fewer joints.

This week’s featured deal takes us to Mount Pleasant—home of Central Michigan University, my alma mater. Fire up, Chips!
|
Every Friday at The Woods, it’s Fat Dab Friday, which means 20% off just about all concentrates, including THCa, hash, wax, and even those slick little infusion brushes. If you’re anywhere near CMU, or passing through on your way Up North this summer, this is the move.
My personal picks from their concentrate shelf? Fresh Coast Extracts and Ice Kream Hash Co., two brands that consistently bring the heat. Just know those massive, 14-gram buckets of live resin aren’t included in this deal, but just about everything else on the shelf is fair game.
|
This week’s featured photo comes to you from a parking lot we all know and sometimes fear: Costco. I always chief down a joint before going inside. Not only does it help me stay calm while dodging giant shopping carts, it also makes the free samples taste incredible.

The strain of choice? Permanent Marker from Uplyfted Cannabis Co.
I first came across this strain while judging for the Best in Grass competition, and I can confidently say Uplyfted is producing the best version of it anywhere in the state right now.
It’s vanilla-smooth with a gassy kick and a subtle floral finish. And the high is long-lasting, euphoric, uplifting, and perfectly calibrated for crowded aisles and buying munchies in bulk.
Also worth noting: The pre-roll tube looks exactly like a Sharpie marker—and it’s reusable.
