It’s the season to light up our love lives, and we’ve got a roundup of Michigan’s most unique experiences just in time for Valentine’s Day.

MICHIGAN—Who says Valentine’s Day has to be about browsing the aisles of your local supermarket for the same old gifts? We’re gearing you up for incredible and unforgettable Valentine’s Week of experiences in Michigan, each designed to light up your love life like never before. Whether it’s a classic romantic outing with Mary Jane or a girl’s night out to strengthen your bonds, grab your loved one’s hand, and enjoy some adventure and sparks.

Before we get started, we’ll leave you with one more pro tip: If you want to add extra spice to your intimate moments, check out Sundara, a THC-infused personal lubricant by Artemis Brands. Designed by Michigan natives, especially for ganja lovers, the lubricant increases blood flow and relaxes muscles—it also doubles as a massage oil. Each bottle offers 15mg for about $55.

Head to The Thistle at Crystal Mountain in Thompsonville for an enchanting dinner experience—a quintessential Valentine’s Day tradition.

This picturesque Michigan location offers a prix fixe menu with unique dishes like Brussels Sprouts with cherrywood bacon to Portabella Arancini with tomato Pomodoro, Beef Filet Wellington, or Sea Scallops with truffled Parmesan risotto for the main course. Be sure to leave room for dessert, too.

Every bite will be a delight during this culinary experience, especially with a stop to the family-owned Upnorth Releaf a few miles away. This dispensary also offers an extensive selection of CBD products, nicotine alternatives, and exquisite glassware, all in a perfectly curated collection of gifts any ganja lover would appreciate.

If you’re in the mood for a soulful night out, the Valentine’s Soul Jam at the Fox Theatre in Detroit is the place to be on Feb. 10.

The evening event features a star-studded lineup of legendary artists, including Russell Thompkins Jr. and The New Stylistics, Heatwave, Bloodstone, Enchantment, and The Intruders.

The Fox Theatre, known for its stunning architecture and impeccable acoustics, sets the perfect stage for this soulful celebration of love that fuses smooth harmonies and infectious rhythms.

Nearby is Detroit’s Utopia Gardens, a boutique-vibe dispensary set in a 3,000-square-foot space just two miles from The Fox Theatre.

4. Exotic soaks and strains in Ann Arbor

We all know Ann Arbor as a town booming with unique dispensaries and headshops. It’s also home to Oasis Hot Tubs—the perfect escape for ‘Ganders who want to truly relax and unwind (with Skymint and Herbana right up the road).

Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion for a customizable relaxation experience in any of their themed private soaking rooms, heated to a blissful 102 degrees. Do note: There is no smoking allowed on Oasis premises.

With speakers, showers, and features unique to each location, you can transport yourselves to exotic destinations like Greece, Fiji, Hawaii, Morocco, Mexico, and the British Isles.

Pro tip: Take advantage of their special promotions, including affordable hourly soaks, and enjoy an intimate and soothing evening together. Oasis Hot Tubs offers the perfect setting for a romantic and memorable Valentine’s Day. They also have atriums for up to three couples.

5. Winter whimsy in the UP

Michigan Technological University is gearing up for its 102nd Winter Carnival, taking place from Feb. 7-10, so we think it’s a perfectly whimsical and winter-themed adventure to get in the Valentine’s Day spirit.

The annual extravaganza is organized by the Blue Key National Honor Society and is one of the largest celebrations of its kind in the nation—not just in the Mitten. You’ll walk through impressive snow statues that adorn the campus and community, showcasing the incredible creativity and talent of the university’s students. But Winter Carnival is not just about the sculptures; it’s a time for Huskies to come together and showcase their skills in broomball, comedy skits, human ice bowling, and a royal coronation ceremony, too. This event promises fun, excitement, and camaraderie in a town dotted with fantastic dispensaries. For those feeling the spirit of amor, we recommend Higher Love, which is about five minutes from campus.

6. Bud and bliss, indoor edition

As ‘Ganders, we are no strangers to loving those cozy evenings inside the house. Instead of traditional reservations, consider spending the evening cooking up a storm with cannabis-infused recipes (start here for inspiration).

With Michigan’s open culture and community of cannabis lovers, you can find a cheap ounce of your favorite strain to kickstart your night (we’ve got you covered on that front, too).

This is a night to get creative in the kitchen as you experiment with flavors and the effects of cooking with cannabis, as the possibilities are endless once you master making cannabutter. It’s sure to be an intimate evening of deep conversations, laughter, and shared moments of buzz and connection.

7. Galentine’s adventures—just for ‘Gander women

We can’t leave out the ladies who love a good reason to get together.

Adventurous friends can have a blast at the Galentine’s Day Puzzling Party at Stafford’s Perry Hotel in Petoskey on Feb. 13.

It’s a special Galentine’s Day puzzle competition where you and your team of up to four will race against the clock to complete a 500-piece puzzle. The top three teams will win incredible prizes, with the first-place team taking home $500 worth of goodies.

But that’s not all—it’s an event to indulge in appetizers, refreshing drinks, and stylish decorations that will set the perfect ambiance for a night of friendship and fun.

For a special treat for your friends before and after, try these infused fizzy drinks like Pacific Island Mango or locally-made adult twists on chocolates that are far better than a melting molded bear. Plus, you’ll leave with an awesome swag bag of gifts and mementos to remember your Galentine’s Day experience.

8. Love in green, on the big screen

In a Valentine’s Day treat for ganja lovers across the state, the much-anticipated Bob Marley: One Love movie will be released on Feb. 14.

For those who are going for the full experience, we’d recommend the IMAX show in Ypsilanti, with the closest dispo just a four-minute drive from the theater.

If you’re a Michigander who loves a solid theme along the way, don’t forget about Bob Marley’s son Julian, who brought his Lion Order brand of Rastafari kush to Michigan.

Either way, the Marley family has been deep in production to bring the story of their legendary relative—who became the world’s most famous ganja-loving reggae musician—to life.
