Forget the typical bachelorette destinations like Vegas or Nashville—Michigan is bursting with plenty of fun, pampering, and excitement for all types of brides-to-be!
If you’ve been tasked with the honor (and let’s face it—sometimes the pressure!) of throwing your friend or family member a bachelorette party, there is no need to head out of state to have a memorable time. Michigan has plenty to offer that other popular bachelorette destinations don’t, with no long-distance travel required.
In today’s economy, brides and bridal parties are looking to be smart with their money, so staying local for nuptial celebrations could help you stick to a budget too. Plus, consider whether Vegas offers views like the Great Lakes, wineries with award-winning local wines, world-class spas, and plenty of accessible nature (the answer is obviously “no!”).
No matter where you and the bride-to-be celebrate, it will undoubtedly be perfect, but before you decide on your bachelorette destination, consider these Michigan venues that will make the blushing bride oh-so-thrilled.
For the Wine Enthusiast Bride-To-Be:
Traverse City, MI
If you have a bride who loves a good glass of vino, we have to recommend planning a trip to Traverse City for the ultimate wine-soaked good time. Along with the sweeping backdrop of hilly wineries and sparkling waters, Traverse City offers a charming downtown, wineries, shopping, and spas to build the perfect bachelorette itinerary.
For a one-stop bachelorette party destination, check out the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. The resort offers rooming, on-site dining, a spa, a private beach, pools, a hot tub, and concierge services that will help you book a chartered wine tour. You can even arrange for your group to be picked up and dropped off directly from the resort.
To build your own bachelorette party in Traverse City instead, here are some other destinations to consider adding:
- Chateau Chantal Wine Tasting: Chateau Chantal is my absolute favorite winery in Traverse and not just because we happen to share a name. It’s also because the Chateau offers tapas tours, which are a downright steal for the amount of food and wine you get to taste—plus a tour of the winery is included.
- MAWBY Vineyard & Winery: Offering bubbly wines only, MAWBY Winery is a must-visit for any bachelorette party. In fact, you might want to bring some bags with you because you’ll definitely want to stock up for the after-party! For groups of 6 or more bachelorettes, call ahead so the winery manager can make sure you are accommodated.
- Black Star Farms Wine Tasting: Book a wine dinner, stroll the grounds, and visit the horses, or just enjoy a glass of wine as a group on the welcoming patio at the 160-acre wine estate.
- Traverse City Wine and Beer Tours: This company arranges full shuttles to cart you and your bridal party around the town to all the wineries you want. They even offer an add-on of custom swag so you can outfit your whole bridal party in custom shirts, hats, sashes, or drinkware.
- Kayak Bike and Brew: For the more fitness-enthusiastic bridal bunch, set up a bike-and-brew tour for your group—the guided tour includes both biking and kayaking around to local wineries and breweries, and the company offers lodging partners too if you want to book a spot for your party to crash at when you’re all biked (and brewed) out.
- TC Cycle Pub: Want to work for your wine? Grab your group of girls and start pedaling because these Cycle Pub tours are fully powered by feet—your feet, that is. Groups of up to 14 can cycle one bike at a time to cruise around town. Plus, the large pub on wheels comes with its own bartender, so you can party while you pedal.
- Hotel Indigo Rooftop Bar: When you’re ready to put your feet up—literally and figuratively—end your night at this “it” destination in TC, with majestic views overlooking Traverse Bay, immaculate vibes, and farm-to-table offerings. Hotel Indigo also offers lodging and breakfast, which makes it the perfect bachelorette brunch venue.
For the Nature-Loving Bride-To-Be:
Marquette, MI
Brides-to-be who enjoy getting down and dirty in nature will appreciate a bachelorette party that incorporates some of their favorite things. And what place better to enjoy all of nature’s beauty and bounty than Michigan? The mitten state has it all, from fun in the sun to water adventures to even snowy escapes if you’re celebrating over the colder months. Here are some ideas to get you started planning a bachelorette party for a bride who loves being outside.
- Pictured Rocks Kayak Tours: It doesn’t get more picturesque than a kayak tour in Pictured Rocks–this company will help you set up your own tour, and you can build an itinerary that includes a day trip or a full glamping bachelorette adventure.
- Presque Isle: For a more rustic trip, plan a hike to Presque Isle—just be aware that part of the appeal of Presque Isle is how untouched it is, so you’ll need to plan accordingly.
- Sugarloaf Mountain Hike: Mountains in Michigan? You got it—Sugarloaf features a 3,200-foot pathway trail and stairways to help your group enjoy the views from the Lake Superior summit that sits 470 feet high.
- U.P. Sailing Co: Groups of up to six people can enjoy a sunset sail and even try their hand at sailing, or just relax. The company also allows you to bring your own food and drink on board or can help arrange a local charcuterie board or food spread if you prefer. Private events specifically for bachelorette parties are also available, to reach out directly to the company to set up yours.
- Blackrocks Brewery: After a day of hiking or sailing, refresh and refuel at Blackrocks, a local brewery that serves up home-brewed beer and live music.
- Marquette Mountain: Wintertime brides can enjoy skiing and private events at Marquette Mountain. Just call ahead to arrange for your group to enjoy a custom experience.
For the City Bride-To-Be:
Detroit, MI
Sure, Michigan may be known for its outdoor attractions for nature lovers, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a state for city dwellers, too. Concrete lovers will get a kick out of planning a city adventure right in the heart of Motown.
- Vixen Dance Pole Dancing Class: Smaller groups can join an existing class or contact Vixen Dance directly to set up a private lesson and get the whole studio to yourselves. Party packages include up to 18 people, a gift bag for the bride-to-be, and choices of pole dancing or lap dance learning. At the very least, you’ll all get a great workout too!
- Level Two Bar & Rooftop: Book the whole rooftop overlooking Monroe Ave. in downtown Detroit, or just reserve a booth for your group of bachelorettes. Either way, enjoy lush eats like an octopus platter, fattoush, gyros, and specialty drinks.
- The Handlebar Pub Crawl: You don’t have to travel to Traverse City to enjoy a pedal pub–Detroit also offers a popular pedal bar that provides the best way to tour the town. Book a regular tour, a bachelorette experience, or even a brunch tour. Music, drinks, food, and fun are all included!
- MotorCity Casino Hotel: No trip to Detroit is complete without a stop at the MotorCity Casino Hotel—make the hotel your “home” while in Detroit, book a spa session, stop in for a drink, try your hand at the slots, or just enjoy one of the many live entertainment options.
- The Fillmore Detroit Live Music: Speaking of live entertainment, your group may enjoy a show at the historic Fillmore on Woodward. Keep in mind that because the site is a historic one, it’s a stairs-only venue so any bridesmaids with accessibility needs won’t have access to an elevator.
For the Bride Who Just Wants to be Pampered:
Brides looking for more relaxed and pampering vibes for their bachelorette excursions will appreciate these all-in-one spa resorts right here in Michigan—perfect for year-round celebrations.
- Crystal Mountain Resort & Spa: We’ve talked about our love of Crystal Mountain Resort before as a family fun destination, but we would be remiss if we didn’t mention the award-winning spa that makes it the ideal bachelorette destination. The spa was awarded the #3 spot in the entire Midwest in 2023 and with 18,500 square feet and LEED certification, we can see why. Book your entire party in one of their on-site cabins and enjoy on-site dining, pampering at the spa, and seasonal activities like skiing, golf, hiking, and more.
- Riverwalk Place Resort & Spa: Frankenmuth, MI, offers a relaxed bachelorette destination with activities like historic sites, downtown walking, breweries and wineries, and a full spa at Riverwalk Place. Treat your whole party to mani-pedis and massages, then enjoy a world-class chicken dinner.
- Mountain Grand Lodge & Spa: Part of Boyne Mountain, the Mountain Grande Lodge & Spa can host your entire party and provide a refreshing and relaxing experience year-round. Stay inside and enjoy the spa services, or add on some seasonal activities like skiing or shopping. The spa also has catering services, so you can feed your crew—relaxing can be hard work!
- Harbor Grand Hotel: I won’t lie—just looking at the website for the Harbor Grand Hotel feels like a relaxing escape. The nature-inspired oasis is a refreshing destination that will rejuvenate both your group’s minds and bodies. The hotel also offers on-site private dining and waterfront rooms to make this the ultimate luxurious spa retreat for your bachelorette party.
