A weekly roundup of Michigan protests, political events, advocacy opportunities, and ways to take action statewide–Friday, March 20 through Thursday, March 26.

Want to get politically engaged this week? Get ready for the No Kings National Day of Action on March 28, attend a Care Continues event by Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan to support reproductive justice, and help reclaim Michigan pride with Equality Michigan. 

Here’s our weekly roundup of upcoming events and actions:

Friday (March 20)

Traverse City Indivisible: Weekly Good Trouble Assembly Rally, (Traverse City, 12-1 p.m.)
A rally to call on Congress to protect democracy and stop ICE.

Red, Wine, & Blue: Spring into Sign Making, (Troy, 12-2 p.m.)
Make “No Kings” protest signs ahead of the National Day of Action on March 28. Materials will be provided.

Red, Wine, & Blue: No Kings Poster Party, (Bay City, 4-6 p.m.)
Make “No Kings” protest signs ahead of the National Day of Action on March 28. Materials will be provided.

Dexter Strong, Dexter Cares: “Turn ‘I’ into ‘We’” Weekly Protest, (Dexter, 4:30-5:30 p.m.)
A protest to support democracy.

Attorney General Dana Nessel and State Senator Rosemary Bayer: Data Center Town Hall, (Northville, 6 p.m.)
A town hall discussion on data centers and their impact on Michigan communities. 

Saturday (March 21)

Kent County Indivisible: Mobilization Peace Training, (Grand Rapids, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.)
A training for those wanting to volunteer on Peace Teams for NO KINGS III. This training focuses on becoming Marshal Ready and will overview the CLARA De-Escalation Method with discussion and role play using current, relevant scenarios

West MI Indivisible: Basic Safety Training, (Grandville, 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m.)
A training ahead of No Kings Day covering basic safety procedures, de-escalation techniques, observation, and core elements of a good safety program, with interaction with participants. 

FACISTFIGHTERS: Facistfighters rally, (Ann Arbor, 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.)
A rally against fascism. 

Indivisible: Weekly Rage Against the Regime, (Mount Pleasant, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.)
A rally for democracy.

Michigan League of Conservation Voters: Grounds for Change: Flyering for Earth Day, (Royal Oak, 11 a.m-1:30 p.m.)
A gathering to connect with Michigan LCV volunteers interested in climate issues and learn about upcoming events. The gathering will be followed by passing out flyers for local businesses for Oakland County Earth Day. 

Holland Zeeland Indivisible: Stand for Democracy, (Holland, 12-1 p.m.)
A rally for democracy.

ICE Out of Detroit: Stop the ICE Detention Camp in Romulus, (Detroit, 12 p.m) and (Romulus, 3 p.m.)
Join public meetings and demonstrations to stop the ICE detention facility in Romulus.

MoveOn: No Kings Sign-Making Party, (Lansing, 1-3 p.m.)
Make “No Kings” protest signs ahead of the National Day of Action on March 28. 

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan: Southeast Care Continues, (Southfield, 1-4 p.m.)
A statewide series to help stop efforts to defund and dismantle Planned Parenthood. Hear from staff, patients, and advocates over lunch on the importance of reproductive healthcare and how defunding is harming Michigan communities.

Indivisible: Meet the Candidates Forum, (Marquette, 2-4 p.m.)
The MI-01 Meet the Candidates Project is a nonpartisan forum series connecting voters with primary candidates before the election.

Indivisible Metro Detroit: Sign-Making Party, (Huntington Woods, 2-5 p.m.)
Make “No Kings” protest signs ahead of the National Day of Action on March 28. Materials will be provided.

Sunday (March 22)

Indivisible: No Kings 3.0 Sign Making Party, (Clinton Township, 1-5 p.m.)
Make “No Kings” protest signs ahead of the National Day of Action on March 28. 

Indivisible: ICE OUT-Community Weekly Vigil, (Saugatuck, 5:30-6:30 p.m.)
A community-led ICE Out vigil for reflection and collective care.

Michigan United Action: Money Out of Politics Orientation, (Virtual, 6:30-8 p.m.)
Learn about the ballot initiative to get money out of politics and how you can get involved.

Monday (March 23)

Indivisible: Waterford Resistance Dems & Friends, (Waterford, 3:30-5 p.m.)
A rally for democracy.

Michigan United Action: Data Center Informational Session, (Houghton, 6-7 p.m.)
A session on the impacts of data centers on students, communities, the economy, and the environment. 

Voters Not Politicians: Democracy in Action: Voters Not Politicians and Civic Engagement, (Traverse City, 6-7:30 p.m.)
A community event focused on civic engagement, where attendees can learn about ending gerrymandering, reducing money in politics, and getting involved through volunteering or petition signing.

SWIM Statewide Indivisible: De-escalation Training for Protectors of Democracy, (Virtual, 6:30-8:30 p.m.)
A training ahead of No Kings 3 covering de-escalation skills to help participants safely manage conflict and navigate tense situations during large gatherings.

Tuesday (March 24)

Berrien County Democratic Party: Weekly Peaceful Protests, (St. Joseph, 12-12:30 p.m.)
A weekly peaceful protest to stand together, be visible, and show solidarity.

Traverse Indivisible: Social Security, Good Trouble, (Traverse City, 12-1 p.m.)
A rally to call on Congress to protect democracy and stop ICE.

Ypsilanti Indivisible: ICE OUT!, (Ypsilanti, 4:30- 5:30 p.m)
A protest against ICE.

Michigan LCV: Climate Action Town Hall, (Kalamazoo, 5-7 p.m.)
A climate action town hall at Lee Honors College connecting students and community members with local leaders to learn about environmental efforts and ways to get involved.

Red, Wine, & Blue: No KINGS-No Sign-No Problem-We Got You, (Farmington Hills, 6:30-8:30 p.m.)
Make “No Kings” protest signs ahead of the National Day of Action on March 28. Materials will be provided.

Voters Not Politicians: Public Comment at Pontiac City Council Meeting, (Pontiac, 6-8 p.m.)
A community effort to attend the Pontiac City Council meeting and advocate for a resolution opposing a voter suppression ballot proposal through public comment.

Kent County Democrats: Politics 101: Neighborhood to Nation, (Grand Rapids, 7 p.m.)
An opportunity to learn about why local leadership matters, hear the mission of the Kent Dems, and learn how you can get involved.

Wednesday (March 25)

Leelanau Indivisible: Cedar First Amendment Stand-Up Protest, (Cedar, 12-1 p.m.)
A protest for democracy.

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan: Youth Panel on Care Continues, (Virtual, 6-8 p.m.)
A statewide series to help stop efforts to defund and dismantle Planned Parenthood, featuring staff, patients, advocates, and Generation Action students sharing their experiences and organizing efforts to protect reproductive healthcare in Michigan on and off college campuses.

Michigan United Action: Money Out of Politics Orientation, (Virtual, 6:30-8 p.m.)
Learn about the ballot initiative to get money out of politics and how you can get involved.

Red, Wine, & Blue: Michigan Women: The Margin, The Muscle, The Midterms, (Virtual 7-8 p.m.)
A women’s history trivia event with discussion on civic engagement and the impact you can have on elections.

Thursday (March 26)

Indivisible: Clarkston PerSisters Weekly Rally for Democracy, (Independence Township, 3:30-5 p.m.)
A rally to defend democracy and our Constitution, protect healthcare, Social Security, public education, working families, veterans, LGBTQ+ rights, and immigrants.

Equality Michigan: Reclaiming MI Pride, (Lansing, 5:30-7:30 p.m.)
Join community members, volunteers, and community leaders to discuss building lasting power around LGBTQ+ equality, community support, and collective action in Michigan. Registered guests will receive light appetizers and drink tickets

Indivisible: Sign Making and Protest Prep, (Grand Haven, 6-8 p.m.)
A gathering to make protest signs.

Equality Michigan: Reclaiming MI Pride, (Traverse City, 6-8 p.m.)
Join community members, volunteers, and State Representative Betsy Coffia to discuss building lasting power around LGBTQ+ equality, community support, and collective action in Michigan. Registered guests will receive light appetizers and drink tickets.
