Beer and wine flights are fairly commonplace at bars and restaurants today, but some Michigan establishments are taking the idea of sampling multiple menu items at once to new heights. From ice cream and pie to pizza and grits, Michiganders can enjoy flights of all sorts of foods (and a few beverages!) at the 12 restaurants highlighted below. 

Whether you’re plagued by indecision or simply want to try a variety of treats at once, these food and drink flights are sure to leave you satisfied. Keep reading to learn more.

Cereal shooters at Bobcat Bonnie’s

Bobcat Bonnie’s is known for its lively brunch scene with fun drink options, including a build-your-own Bloody Mary and mimosa bar and boozy IV bags. However, if you want a flight of brunch cocktails, give the cereal shooters a try. There are five flavors to choose from (two of which are vegan), and a flight will allow you to sample three. 

Each shooter is like a grown-up, alcohol-infused version of a classic cereal. There’s the Cap’n Crunch, made with Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey, amaretto, simple syrup, and almond milk, and the Cocoa Pebbles for chocolate lovers. Other choices include Fruity Pebbles, Lucky Charms, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Square One Eats & Treats, a casual, locally-owned restaurant in Waterford, also serves several signature beverage flights. Mimosa and Blue Moon mosa flights both feature orange, cranberry, grapefruit, and pineapple juice, while the French 70’s flight will get you four variations on a French 75. If whiskey is more your speed, opt for the old-fashioned flight and sip on a classic, maple, honey, and espresso cocktail.

Craving some caffeine? Try the boozy iced coffee flight, with flavors such as bourbon ball, peanut butter, butter pecan, and mountain java.

Ice cream flights at Modern Cone

Pizza flights at The Mitten Brewing Co.

This flight allows diners to sample six of the restaurant’s specialty pizzas and provides enough food to feed four people. Margarita and salsa flights at Luna

64 Ionia Ave. SW #100, Grand Rapids 

Good things come in threes at Luna, a chic Mexican restaurant known for its tacos and creative cocktails. When you order a margarita flight, you get to sip on three different margarita flavors (pick from prickly pear, mango, spicy, and paloma). Pair your margaritas with a salsa flight, which includes homemade chips and salsas.

Forty Acres Soul Kitchen offers one of the most unique flight options on our list. This restaurant, which serves up authentic American soul food, has a shrimp and grits flight, which features a sample of all three of its shrimp and grits dishes. 

But that’s not all. The restaurant also offers Cognac flights. There are three flight tiers — economy, business, and first-class — and each includes Cognacs of varying prices, with economy being the most affordable and first class featuring top-shelf picks. 

Pie flights at Crane’s Pie Pantry

Crane’s Pie Pantry offers so many delicious pie flavors that it would be a shame to settle on just one. Instead, opt for a pie flight and enjoy four. From classics like apple and cherry to seasonal favorites like pumpkin and blueberry, there are plenty of pies to pick from.

Soup flights at Soup Spoon Cafe

As the name implies, Soup Spoon Cafe is known for its soups. Its delicious lineup of soups is always changing, and the flight option gives you the chance to sample four soups at once with a side of French bread that’s great for dipping. At the time of writing, the soups of the day were seafood chowder, chicken noodle, French onion, and pumpkin bisque. 

Coffee flights at Hooked

3142 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing

Get your caffeine fix at Hooked, an independent bookstore and café with countless coffee drinks on offer. There are several coffee flights that are always available, with creative names like Hookie Cookies and Literary Indulgence, but Hooked also offers seasonal and holiday flights, such as the Hooked Snowy Signature Cocktail Flight (drinks include espresso martini, spiked chai, and hot toddy). All flights come with three drinks, and Hooked also has a wide variety of wine flights available. 

Eggs Benedict flights at Beggar’s Banquet

218 Abbot Rd., East Lansing

East Lansing staple Beggar’s Banquet serves up a breakfast flight worth rolling out of bed for. Order the eggs Benedict flight and dig into three of Beggar’s Banquet’s four poached egg dishes: Classic, Cali (vegetarian), Big Country, and Red Cedar.
