As June begins and the weather warms up, it’s a great time to get involved in political action across the state. This week offers opportunities to meet or volunteer for Michigan’s US Senate candidates, attend block parties focused on rising utility costs, join volunteer orientations to learn how to take action this summer, and more.

Ottawa Democrats: Office Volunteer Training (Holland, 10 a.m.)
Orientation training for those interested in volunteering as part of the office staff. Afterward, new volunteers will work with experienced volunteers for further training to staff the office.

Michigan LCV: Washtenaw County-Our Bills Are Too Damn High Summit (Ypsilanti, 2-4 p.m.)
Hear from a lineup of speakers on how the climate is being impacted by cuts at the federal level, what can be done at the state and local level, including ways to get money out of politics.
Monday (June 1)

An evening of food, conversation, and activities focused on the energy affordability crisis in Michigan.
Equality Michigan: Traverse City Phone Banking for Equality (Virtual, 5:30-7 p.m.)
Receive training before contacting and mobilizing voters in support of equality and inclusion.
Washtenaw County Democrats and Michigan LCV: Big Tech, Big Questions: What Rules Should Michigan Impose on Data Centers? (Virtual, 5:30-7:00 p.m.)
A conversation on what data center regulation should look like in Michigan. Speakers include Ben Poulson, Director of State Government Affairs with MLCV; Peter Sinclair, Climate activist and videographer; and Amanda Robert, Network Director, Michigan Climate Action Network.
