A weekly roundup of Michigan protests, political events, advocacy opportunities, and ways to take action statewide–Friday, April 17 through Thursday, April 23.

Take climate action at the Oakland County Earth Day community fair and march, make your voice heard on voting rights in Kalamazoo and beyond, and mobilize voters for equality. 

Here’s a roundup of upcoming events and actions:

Friday (April 17)

Indivisible on the Lakeshore: Resist and Persist at the World’s Largest Weathervane, (Montague, 12 p.m.)
A protest against authoritarianism.

Indivisible Greater Kalamazoo: Keep the Pressure on Huizenga, (Portage, 12 p.m.)
A protest to speak up against Congressman Huizenga in Congressional District 4.

NE Oakland Indivisible: Protest Music In The Park – Oxford, (Oxford, 4 p.m.)
Join in singing protest songs.

Indivisible on the Lakeshore: Fight Fascism Fridays, (Muskegon Township, 4:30 p.m.)
A protest against fascism.

Indivisible: Chalk-The-Walk-With-Truth, (Saugatuck, 4:30 p.m.)
Join in chalking the downtown walks with “Truth, color, and hope!”

Indivisible: Unaffordable Protest, (Escanaba, 4:45 p.m.)
A protest highlighting affordability issues.

Indivisible on the Lakeshore: Broadway Bridge Fridays, (Muskegon, 5 p.m.)
A protest against authoritarianism. 

Saturday (April 18)

Ann Arbor Corner Power: A2 Corner Solidarity Saturdays and A2 Plymouth & Green Resistance, (Ann Arbor, 11 a.m.)
Protests against the Trump Administration.

Equality Michigan: Canvass for Equality, (Lansing, 11 a.m.)
Receive training, then knock doors to talk to voters about equality to turn pride into voter turnout.

Blue Water Indivisible: Lexington BWI, (Lexington, 11 a.m.)
A protest against authoritarianism.

Indivisible: Signs Of Fascism March, (Saugatuck, 11:30 a.m.)
A march raising awareness about fascism.

Holland Zeeland Indivisible: Stand for Democracy, (Holland, 12 p.m.)
A pro-democracy rally.

Stand Up: Stand Up Indivisible Rochester Corner Protest, (Rochester Hills, 1 p.m.)
A pro-democracy rally.

Indivisible Metro Detroit and Voting Access for All Coalition: Voting Rights Community Art, (Ferndale, 1 p.m.)
Join the gathering to create a small piece for the Voting Rights Community Art Project.

Coalition to Shut the Camps: Shut the Romulus ICE Detention Center, (Romulus, 3 p.m.)
Join the effort to stop the ICE detention facility in Romulus.

Michigan LCV: Oakland County Earth Day, (Royal Oak, 4 p.m.)
A family-friendly community celebration of climate action and sustainability, bringing together environmental organizations, local leaders, small businesses, and community members. The event will feature a rally, march, and community fair focused on climate action and environmental justice. Find volunteer opportunities here

Sunday (April 19)

Indivisible: Postcards to Swing States, (Grand Haven, 10:30 a.m.)
Write postcards to voters in Michigan Senate District 35 to vote in the special election on May 5. Please bring your postcard stamps, Indivisible will provide the rest.

Stand Up. Fight Back. Southeast Michigan: Stand Up. Fight Back. Protest Fascism, (Rochester Hills, 2:00 p.m.)
A protest against fascism.

Michigan United Action: Money Out of Politics Orientation, (Virtual, 6:30 p.m.)
Learn about the ballot initiative to get money out of politics and how you can get involved.

VoteVets: Veterans Happy Hour with Rep Joe Tate, (Detroit, 7 p.m.)
Michigan Veterans and military families are invited to get involved politically, with a Detroit happy hour event after the State Convention featuring Rep. Joe Tate to connect, discuss key issues, and support veteran-led organizing.

Monday (April 20)

Voters Not Politicians: Lansing Public Comment Takeover, (Lansing, 7 p.m.)
Attend the Lansing City Council meeting to demand action on the anti-Documentary Proof of Citizenship resolution. Talking points will be provided after you register.

Tuesday (April 21)

Equality Michigan: Virtual Phone Bank, (Traverse City, 6 p.m.)
Receive training before contacting voters in Michigan to identify and mobilize voters in support of equality and inclusion.

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan: Volunteer Orientation, (Virtual, 6 p.m.)
Learn more about the work Planned Parenthood Advocates is doing and how you can get involved with reproductive justice volunteer opportunities. 

Wednesday (April 22)

Leelanau Indivisible: Cedar First Amendment Stand-Up Protest, (Cedar, 12 p.m.)
A protest for democracy.

MSU Creative Club and Michigan LCV: Protect Our Earth – Eco Crafts and Action on Earth Day, (East Lansing, 6:30 p.m.)
An Earth Day event to make eco-crafts and learn about ways to take action to protect the environment and democracy. 

Thursday (April 23)

Michigan Fertility Alliance: Rally for Family Building, (Lansing, 11:30 a.m.)
Join the Michigan Fertility Alliance to rally and urge lawmakers to remove financial barriers to family building.

Michigan LCV: Calls and Coffee; A Phonebank for Our Rights, (Detroit, 6 p.m.)
Phonebank with Michigan LCV and connect with voters.

West Michigan Indivisible: West MI Response Training to ICE, (Grandville, 6:30 p.m.)
A team is being formed to respond to ICE activity in the West Michigan Indivisible area. The training will cover background on ICE, how to safely observe and respond to ICE actions, and how to offer support through mutual aid efforts in the area.

Moms Demand Action: Statewide-Advocacy Day, (Lansing, April 28, 8 a.m.)
Join Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action to meet in person with our lawmakers in Lansing to support gun violence prevention. Register in advance.

Michigan United, Reproductive Freedom for All Michigan, and Black Voters Matter: Capitol Day, (Lansing, April 29, 9 a.m.)
A coordinated day of advocacy bringing people from across Michigan to engage directly with lawmakers. Participants can choose which issues to focus on, including voting rights, criminal justice, healthcare, money out of politics, data center and AI regulation, immigrant rights, and reproductive rights. Free buses will be available from Detroit, Grand Rapids, Flint, and Saginaw. Register in advance.

May Day: On May 1, 2026, workers, students, and families will rally, march, and take action across the country and here in Michigan to “demand a nation that puts workers over billionaires, with many refusing business as usual through No School. Equality Michigan: Statewide LGBTQ+ Capitol Day, (Lansing, May 13, 8 a.m.)
Join Equality Michigan Action Network, Equality Michigan, and the LGBTQ+ Commission of Michigan for their 4th annual Statewide LGBTQ+ Capitol Day in Lansing to speak with lawmakers about the issues impacting the LGBTQ+ community. Register in advance.
