Submitting an Op-Ed

We are always looking for elected officials, candidates, activists, and other thought leaders to write thought-provoking op-eds about the challenges and opportunities that Michigan face. Specifically, we are looking to amplify diverse, pro-democracy voices on topics like: 

• Threats to our rights and freedoms
• The stakes of the 2024 election
• The forces at play in 2024 and beyond
• The consequences of MAGA extremism
• Abortion access in Michigan
• Climate 
• Rural 
• Education

And here are a few tips on what we’re looking for from an op-ed:

Things we like:

• Concise and focused pieces between 500-1,200 words
• Relevant and timely content
• A clear, structured argument or main point
• A unique perspective

Things we don’t like:

• Lack of structure or focus 
• Overly broad content (i.e discussing lots of different issues)
• Self-promotional pieces
• Intentionally inflammatory, libelous, or discriminatory language
