MichiGanja in Review: Redemption Cannabis proves top-shelf weed doesn’t need a top-shelf price tag

Weed this good, this cheap, feels almost criminal.

MICHIGAN—Cheap weed usually comes with a catch. Maybe it’s too dry. Maybe it tastes like hay. But every once in a while, a cannabis company comes along that flips the script.

One of them is Redemption Cannabis.

I’ve never paid more than $100 an ounce for any strain from Redemption, yet their flower consistently smokes like something I’d expect to find in a jar from the top shelf. Fresh, flavorful, and always effective, I’m convinced Redemption is the best value play in Michigan marijuana.

Always fresh, always reliable

Redemption doesn’t play the quantity-over-quality game that tanks most budget brands. Instead, their flower is always aromatic and reliably potent. Cracking a bag is never a gamble; I can always trust I’m getting something that’ll burn clean and taste like cannabis should.

Among my favorite strains:

  • GoodFella: A sativa-dominant cross of Mafia Funeral x Donkey Butter, this strain is proof that Redemption doesn’t cut corners. The nugs were sticky and dense. The flavor rides in on creamy OG notes with a bright, citrusy exhale that lingers on the palate. And the effects are balanced and sociable: floaty enough to take the edge off, but still clear-headed enough to keep the day moving. Think Saturday errands with a smile.
  • Stanky Leg: GMO x Garlic Breath makes for a loud, garlic-forward indica that’s not shy about announcing itself. Heavy-bodied and deeply relaxing, this one’s made for lazy afternoons. If funky, garlicky terps are your jam, Stanky Leg is your slow-dance partner.

More than just good weed

Redemption’s name isn’t just marketing fluff. Founder Ryan Basore is the real deal. He built the brand out of lived experience—at one point even serving federal prison time over cannabis as part of the “Okemos 7” before coming home to help shape Michigan’s licensed market.

A portion of Redemption’s revenue helps fund legal and financial aid for people who are incarcerated for nonviolent, cannabis offenses. That mission gives every bag a little more weight. It’s not just affordable, high-quality weed; it’s rooted in justice and second chances.

The bottom line

Redemption Cannabis is proof that affordable doesn’t have to mean forgettable.

With ounces priced under $100 (even cheaper if you know where to shop) and weed that’s consistently fresh, tasty, and terpene-rich, it’s the best budget brand in Michigan, full stop.

Add in standout strains like GoodFella and Stanky Leg, plus a social justice mission that puts its money where its mouth is, and you’ve got a brand that earns its name every single day.
