NO TIPS FOR YOU: Timber Cannabis is paying $205,000 to settle a lawsuit from workers who say the dispensary pocketed customer tips that were meant for budtenders. One staffer claimed that he was making up to $150 a shift before management started scooping from their tip jars. To be clear: Timber is not admitting fault. But more than 60 employees are getting paid.
STILL WINNING: Ohio’s recreational weed market is off to a bit of a rocky start, with average prices stuck at around $210 an ounce. Meanwhile, in Michigan, the average price is $62 an ounce. The kicker: We’re not just winning on price—consumers say our weed is better, too.
SPIT TAKE: A former Michigan sheriff wants cops using roadside saliva tests to catch high drivers—but critics say it’s junk science. That’s because the tests do not measure impairment, just presence of substances like THC, which can linger for days after you’ve sobered up. One cannabis advocate called it a “tool of oppression.” The proposal is still stalled in a Michigan House committee.
HEMP BAN LOOMS: A new federal spending bill could ban intoxicating hemp products like Delta-8—meaning no more THC drinks or gummies at gas stations and convenience stores. While some licensed cannabis shops might benefit, others warn it could drive up prices, shrink product variety, and hurt Michigan brands that are already selling hemp-derived THC.
DUNEGRASS DISAPPEARS: Dunegrass Cannabis in Marquette has shut its doors with no public explanation last month. The storefront is dark, the website scrubbed, and calls aren’t being returned.
