Your guide to taking action against the war in Iran

Take action in Michigan: contact your lawmakers, find protests and events, and get involved in efforts opposing US military involvement in Iran.

The war in Iran continues, with the Trump administration continuing to put lives at risk. More than 50,000 US service members have been deployed, 800 have been wounded, and 18 have died since Feb. 28 of this year. President Trump has described the conflict as “small potatoes.” A recent WDIV/Detroit News poll found that only 25.7% of Michigan voters approve of President Trump’s handling of the war with Iran. Congress has not formally declared war, but it has an important role in decisions about US military action.

Here’s how you can take action to end US military involvement in Iran.

Contact your lawmakers

If you live in Michigan, you can contact our state’s two US senators and your US House representative. Michigan is represented in the Senate by Gary Peters (D) and Elissa Slotkin (D). Your House representative depends on your congressional district.

Attend an event

Be ready to vote

Nov. 3 will be a pivotal election in Michigan. There is an open US Senate race, with Democrat Abdul El-Sayed and Republican Mike Rogers vying for the seat. All 13 Michigan House seats are on the ballot.
