Newly surfaced audio is putting Michigan Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rogers’ comments about affordability back in the spotlight. In one recording, Rogers jokes about concerns over grocery costs: “Oh my gosh, coffee went up. You know, horror!” In a separate January radio interview, he said people who blame President Donald Trump for higher prices “go nuts” and “lose their mind,” adding that he believes there is “Trump derangement.” The comments are resurfacing as affordability remains a major issue in Michigan’s Senate race — and as Rogers has more recently called for an end to Trump’s tariff fight with Canada, arguing that lowering those trade barriers would help reduce costs for Michigan businesses and consumers.
