UAW workers return to work following strike (MLive): Nearly 1,000 workers at Dauch Corp. (formerly American Axle) in Three Rivers have approved a new four-year contract, ending a two-week strike that marked the plant’s first work stoppage since 2008. The deal includes major wage increases, bonuses, additional paid time off, and no healthcare premium hikes.

NWS confirms 3 tornadoes from last week’s storms (CBS News): Michigan’s tornado count for 2026 has climbed to 21 after the National Weather Service confirmed an EF0 tornado touched down in Grand Ledge on June 9. That’s in addition to two EF0 tornadoes that touched down in West Michigan during severe storms on June 11. Michigan’s tornado count for 2026 is already above the state’s annual average of 15.

State revokes northern Michigan clerk’s access to voter rolls (Votebeat): Michigan elections officials revoked Antrim County Clerk Victoria Bishop’s access to the state voter database after accusing her of improperly changing voter registrations and acting outside her legal authority.

A whopping 80% of Michiganders recently agreed on something political. 

When asked how they felt about getting corporate money out of politics, 82% of Democrats, 76% of Republicans, and 81% of Independents polled said they were supportive of a ballot initiative with that aim.  

The recent poll by Progress Michigan and the research firm Public Policy Polling shows overwhelming bipartisan support for the Michiganders for Money Out of Politics (MMOP) ballot initiative, which has had record signatures by Michigan voters on its path to being on the November 3 midterm election ballot. 

MMOP was established by a nonpartisan coalition to pass a citizen-initiated law banning political contributions from regulated utilities and major government contractors.

“Michiganders are sick and tired of the power that wealthy corporations wield in our elections,” said Justin Mendoza, executive director of Progress Michigan, in a press release.
