Fellow Michigander,
It’s been a weird week in weed.
The feds are making noise about cannabis reform, Michigan cannabis prices are at one of their lowest points on record, industry groups are gearing up for another legal fight with the state, and Ohio is worrying about what people are bringing back from across the border.
This week’s newsletter breaks it all down—starting with a closer look at the big federal shift that’s been grabbing headlines all week. Pull up a chair, light one up, and scroll on.

Michiganders didn’t need to legalize weed to understand that cannabis is medicine. But under federal law, it’s still treated as one of the most dangerous drugs on the books. And that disconnect is now at the center of a major policy shift underway in Washington.
President Donald Trump’s latest plan to downgrade cannabis from a Schedule I to a Schedule III controlled substance won’t be a gamechanger for most Michigan consumers. But it is a big deal for the businesses, taxes, and federal rules that underpin the state’s weed economy.
It’s this week’s top story.

Most of us light up assuming everything will go smoothly. But cannabis doesn’t always like to play nice—especially when you accidentally eat one too many gummies.
This week, Dr. Evan Litinas is breaking down the most common cannabis side effects that Michiganders experience—from dry mouth and dizziness to anxiety, nausea, and rare but serious issues like Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome, sometimes called “scromiting.” If you’ve ever wondered why weed usually feels great until it suddenly doesn’t, this column is for you.

Some collaborations just make sense. This is one of them.

Wojo and True North, two Michigan brands with some deep caregiver roots, have teamed up to create a new line of solventless gummies that feel like the logical next step for both crews.
They’re infused with rosin pressed from Wojo’s own in-house flower, with “no solvents, additives or shortcuts.” And the edible wizards at True North are using vegan and gluten-free recipes that were directly inspired by some of Wojo’s greatest hits—including citrusy Lemon Stank, funky Dark Rainbow 2.0, gassy Wojo Runtz, floral Berry Blackout, and sweet Strawberry Guava.
Wojo has built its reputation by obsessing over quality, and this feels like that same mindset translated into edible form. Find them at dispensaries across Michigan, including Bank of Buds, Banzen, Cloud, Dispo, Pharmhouse, Planet 59, Puff, Refinery, Fire Station, and Timber.

It’s officially that time of year when the winter air hurts your face and even Florida—where recreational weed is still sadly illegal—starts looking temporarily acceptable.
And Puff Cannabis and BANNED are teaming up to give one lucky Michigan stoner a chance to escape the deep freeze with a fully paid trip to Miami.
|
The giveaway runs through the end of December at Puff locations across Michigan, including Bay City, Kalamazoo, New Buffalo, and Traverse City. Entries are pretty easy to stack; any order that includes a Banned product will earn you at least one chance to win.
The prize itself is solid: round-trip airfare for two, a stay at the Fontainebleau, and $1,500 in spending cash—enough to take the edge off for a few weed-free days in the sunshine. The winner will be announced in January, just as seasonal depression usually peaks.

There’s something deeply correct about being a little too high in an arcade. That feeling hit hard last weekend at Pinball Pete’s in downtown East Lansing, where my wife and I ducked inside to escape the winter gloom and ended up losing track of time among the pinball machines.
After a couple hours playing just about every game in the building, we racked up enough tickets for a metal puzzle toy, which made me feel about eight years old in the best way possible.
|
Naturally, I came prepared for the occasion.
I brought along two of Pressure Pack’s new holiday pre-rolls: Jack in the Box and How the Shifter Stole Christmas. The clear winner was the latter, a Runtz and Green Crack cross that hit with a buzzy energy and made chasing high scores feel like a completely reasonable life priority.
