In Sept. 2020, the median home sale price in Michigan was $207,600. As of Sept. 2023, that figure had risen to $252,400, a 21% increase, according to Redfin. The median rent for a one bedroom apartment in Michigan has also increased, rising by $251 from May 2020 to May 2023 – a 22% increase.

This round of debt relief will eliminate the debt of 125,000 borrowers nationwide: 22,000 with disabilities, 51,000 through an income-driven repayment plan, and 53,000 through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
The provision, signed into law by President Biden, will significantly lower out-of-pocket drug costs for many of the nearly 1.8 million Michigan seniors enrolled in Medicare Part D coverage.

Starting in 2026, the prices for these drugs will decrease for up to nine million seniors, thanks to a provision in President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act that allows Medicare to negotiate the prices for these drugs directly with the manufacturers.
The law ensured that 63,000 Michiganders were able to keep their health insurance, reduced the cost of insulin for nearly 67,000 seniors, and incentivized several manufacturers to invest in the state and create more clean energy jobs.
