The general election is still several days away, but you can make your voice heard right now because early voting has officially kicked off in Michigan.
If you’ve never done it before, early voting works just the same as voting on Election Day: Head to your designated voting location, fill out your ballot, and insert it into the tabulator.
But there’s one great benefit: You can vote on a day that works best for you. Michigan’s mandatory early voting period lasts at least nine consecutive days and ends on Sunday, Nov. 1.
One important factor to note: You can’t always register to vote at an early voting site—the exception is your local clerk’s office, where registration is available up to and on Election Day by 8 p.m. So, be sure you know your registration status before heading out.
One last thing: If you’re still getting up to speed on this year’s election, we’ve got you covered. Visit The ’Gander’s Voter Hub for the latest on the candidates and where they stand on major issues, your voting rights, and everything else you need to know before heading to the polls.
And even if you’ve already voted, whether in person or via absentee ballot, please share this with someone you know who might not have.
