Fellow Michigander,
This week’s newsletter has a little bit of everything: a behind-the-scenes look at Lansing’s most rebellious edible brand, my review of Wojo’s new solventless upgrade to Rick Simpson Oil, and a new, ultra-premium flower line that stole the show at the Flower Expo in Detroit.
On the news side, there’s a statewide vape recall and budtenders hitting the picket line in Ann Arbor. Plus, a deal of the week from High Society that’ll stuff your bag to the legal limit—and a cozy MichiGanja in the Wild strain to match the start of chili season. Let’s get into it.

OIL SLICK: A statewide recall has been issued on about 6,000 “Pineapple Jealousy” flavored Kushy Punch vape carts after state regulators found they contained medium chain triglyceride (MCT) oil—a potentially unsafe diluting agent that’s been banned from vapes since last year.
TRAFFIC STOPPED: A 37-year-old man from Flint is facing criminal charges after Illinois state troopers said they found more than nine pounds of weed in his rental car during a traffic stop on I-55. Prosecutors say the haul—worth an estimated $40,000—was headed toward St. Louis.
DETROIT DELIGHTS: The Detroit Metro Times dropped a fresh list of the best dispensaries in the Motor City. And it begins by highlighting one of my all-time favorite stores: The Refinery.
SKYMINT SURVIVES: One of Michigan’s biggest cannabis brands has reportedly shut down its grow operations, cut hundreds of jobs, and closed more than a dozen dispensaries in recent years. But under new Canadian ownership, Skymint swears it’s finally back in the green.
STRIKE OUT: Dozens of workers at Exclusive in Ann Arbor walked off the job last week, joining the picket line outside the Varsity Drive dispensary in an ongoing fight to unionize. The UFCW Local 876 has reportedly filed a complaint accusing the cannabis company of union-busting.

Wojo Co. just dropped a solventless upgrade to Rick Simpson Oil—and it’s a game changer.
The company’s new Wojo Solventless Oil (WSO) is clean, versatile, and already flying off shelves. I put it to the test every way imaginable, and trust me: This one lives up to the hype.

I caught wind of something special at the Flower Expo in Detroit last week: Northern Underground Growers—aka N.U.G. It’s the new ultra-premium line from Glorious Cannabis Co., and trust me, this brand is about to turn heads when it hits dispensary shelves later this fall.
|
Think of N.U.G. as Glorious turned up to 11. It’s just one carefully tended room in their grow operation, reserved for strains that get extra love and attention—true connoisseur-level flower.
The upcoming lineup includes relatively rare strains like Infinity Linx, Frosted Tipz, and the most talked-about standout that I tried firsthand: Lemon Tree HD. Bright, zesty, and loud in all the right ways, this strain was hands-down one of the best lemony strains I’ve had all summer.
Glorious has always promised to cut buds, not corners—and N.U.G. feels like the proof of concept. If this is where Michigan flower is headed, the future looks pretty damn, well, glorious.

High Society is filling bags to the legal limit this week with one of the best bulk flower deals I’ve seen in a while: buy two ounces of any deli-style cannabis, get a half-ounce for free.
|
Founded in 2020, High Society has built a reputation for fat discounts, smart budtenders, and one of the largest product selections in Michigan. Our readers crowned it one of the state’s best dispensaries last year—and with even more locations now open, the glow-up continues.

September is here. That means the chili pot can go back on the stove. And Premier Cannabis Farms’ Bubblegum Permanent Marker is the perfect smoke to match the season.
|
This Seed Junky cross brings a sweet bubblegum note up front, then hits you with a sharp, gassy funk that sticks around. The effect? An uppity lift for chopping up veggies, followed by a smooth sort of calmness that’s perfect for a slow simmer and a lazy afternoon on the couch.
Premier’s Lansing crew grows with love—hand-watering, trimming, and slow-curing every plant. And it shows. Paired with a steaming bowl of my boilermaker chili, this strain brought some big flavors, a balanced buzz, and vibes that were as cozy as the first chili night of the year.
