This week, Michiganders are coming together to defend democracy, advance equality, protect reproductive rights, and build community power. Whether you’re tabling at a Pride event, attending the Juneteenth organizing summit, or joining a No Kings march or watch party, there are ways to get involved across the state.

You can also make an impact from home by joining this week’s online action calling on lawmakers to fully fund Michigan’s public schools.

Here’s our weekly roundup of upcoming events and actions in Michigan:

Friday (June 12)

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan: Kalamazoo Public Health Fair – Volunteer Tabling (Kalamazoo,10 a.m.-3 p.m.)
Volunteer at Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan’s table at the Kalamazoo Public Health Fair to welcome visitors and share information about Planned Parenthood. 

Michigan United: Juneteenth Resistance Summit (Westland, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.)
Join the Juneteenth summit focusing on six goals: Strategizing for sustainable social change, empowering voters and safeguarding the ballot, mobilizing and building community power, collaborating for maximum structural impact, protecting reproductive rights, and meeting the urgency of the moment.

Saturday (June 13)

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan: Volunteer at Pride

Howell Pride: Volunteer Tabling (Howell, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.)
Warren Pride: Volunteer Tabling (Warren, 12.-6 p.m.)
East Lansing Pride: Volunteer Tabling (East Lansing, 3-9 p.m.)

Sunday (June 14)

No Kings: Rise Up, Sing Out Watch Parties (Events across Michigan) 
Attend a community watch party for ‘A Concert for the First Amendment’, a livestream event featuring Jane Fonda, Patti Smith, Bette Midler, Rufus Wainwright, Joy Reid, Wilson Cruz, Broadway Inspirational Voices, and more. Find an event near you

Dickinson County Democratic Party: No Kings March (Iron Mountain, 1-2 p.m.)
March from the City Hall to the courthouse in support of the US Constitution. Marchers are encouraged to bring signs, US flags, and wear patriotic colors.

Novi Democratic Club: Flag Day Rally (Novi, 1-3 p.m.)
Grab your flag and join the rally for human rights and protest the Trump administration. 

Tuesday (June 16)

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan: Volunteer Orientation (Virtual, 6-7:30 p.m.)
Learn more about the work Planned Parenthood Advocates is doing and how you can get involved with reproductive justice volunteer opportunities. 

Wednesday (June 17)

Equality Michigan: Lansing Phone Banking for Equality (Virtual, 5:30-7 p.m.)
Receive training before contacting and mobilizing voters in support of equality and inclusion.

Kent County Democratic Party: Voter Protection Training – Poll Challenger Certification (Grand Rapids, 7 p.m.)
Learn how to handle problems at the polls through poll challenger training.

Thursday (June 18)

Otsego County Democratic Party: Meet Garlin Gilchrist (Gay, 12-1:30 p.m.)
Meet Garlin Gilchrist, candidate for Michigan Secretary of State.

Mothering Justice: Cocoa Conversation (Detroit, 5:30-8 p.m.)
Celebrate freedom, resilience, and justice at Mothering Justice’s gathering for Black families, parents, advocates, and community members. The event will feature meaningful conversation, local resources, poetry, a hustle class, fathers making an impact, and a bounce house for kids. 

Red Wine & Blue: Four Years Since Dobbs: Care is Political (Shelby Township, 6-8 p.m.)
Commemorate the Dobbs anniversary by assembling care packages for patients accessing reproductive healthcare while connecting with fellow advocates.

Michigan Education Justice Coalition (MEJC): Tell Lansing to Fully Fund Our Schools

As state lawmakers continue negotiations on Michigan’s budget, education advocates are urging residents to contact legislators in support of fully and equitably funded public schools. You can send a message calling for the protection of the School Aid Fund and for a final budget to be passed by June 30, giving schools time to plan for the upcoming academic year.
