This week, I got off the couch, loaded up my Puffco, and promptly sunk back into my couch. And in between dabbing some of Michigan’s most highly reviewed live rosins, I took some notes.
We’ve also got a wild idea floating around the industry to convert Michigan’s entire recreational market into a medical one, a cannabis processor that’s pitching itself as Kalamazoo’s next big data center, and a solid plan for Saturday if you’re anywhere near Saginaw.
Roll one up and read on.

I don’t dab very often. But when I do, I go straight to the top shelf.
This week, I picked up some live rosin from three of Michigan’s most highly reviewed brands, loaded up my Puffco, and tried to find a loser.
Spoiler: I didn’t have a single complaint.

MEDICAL MAKEOVER: Michigan’s cannabis industry is in such rough shape that some industry insiders are now floating a wild new idea to help save it: convert the state’s entire recreational market into a medical one to unlock new federal tax benefits. The only catch? Customers would probably need a medical card to keep buying weed at the dispensary.
SMOKE SOVEREIGNTY: Native American tribes opened a record number of dispensaries in 2025, with 93 tribally owned retail outlets now operating across 10 states. Michigan is part of that wave; Rolling Embers’ dispensary-lounge combo in New Buffalo is a prime example.
SERVER FARM: Harbor Farmz has decided Big Tech looks better than the weed business right now. The cannabis company is selling its 32,000-square-foot processing facility and actively pitching it as the future home of a data center—namely because of its existing electrical infrastructure. Whether the surrounding community signs off is another question entirely.
LIFE SENTENCE: Four Ohio men were sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Sam Simko, a Pontiac cannabis business owner who was shot and killed during an attempted robbery at his store last year. Prosecutors say the men met Simko at a cannabis festival in Ann Arbor, where they hatched a plan to steal upwards of 50 pounds of marijuana from his business.
ICYMI: If you missed last week’s newsletter, I took a deep dive into Michigan’s controversial new wholesale cannabis tax, how it’s already falling way short of state projections, and what it could mean for the roads it was supposed to fix. Read the full story here.

Last week, I asked when you guys like to get stoned. The most common answer was “all day, every day.” The rest of the responses were pretty evenly split between the morning, afternoon, and evening. So once again, we learn nothing about this stoner community we’ve built here. But I respect the commitment.
And if that many of you are smoking around the clock, I’m curious.
How much do you spend on weed in a typical month?

Stay tuned. I’ll have the results in next week’s edition.

If you’ve got nothing going on Saturday, now you do.
House of Dank is throwing a party at its dispensary in Saginaw.

Assembly is not included in this week’s deal.

Sapura in Coldwater is selling a $55 bundle that comes with 14 pre-rolls, a 2-gram dab brush, and 5 grams of kief—all so you can roll your own infused joints at home.
I’ll be honest: None of these products are going to win any awards on their own. But that’s sort of beside the point. Because when you paint your mids with hash rosin and roll them in kief, it’s pretty easy to forget about the mids. Plus, it’s a fun little activity before the sesh.

I spent most of Saturday afternoon floating down the Grand River, getting high, listening to Mac Miller, and accomplishing absolutely nothing.
It was the perfect day.

My destination: The Ledges in Grand Ledge. These giant sandstone cliffs are only about 15 minutes from downtown Lansing, yet they look nothing like downtown Lansing. It’s my all-time favorite spot to disappear for a few hours without taking the drive all the way Up North.
In my hand is a pre-rolled joint of Purple Push Pop from Seed Junky.
Seed Junky is one of the most respected names in the game. They’re the breeder behind Wedding Cake, Kush Mints, Jealousy, and a long list of other strains you probably love. These days, it seems half the industry lean on their genetics. And their pre-rolls are always reliable.
Purple Push Pop is one of the more relaxing strains in their lineup. It’s sugary, sweet, milky, and turned out to be a perfect pairing for a slow float down a river with nowhere to be.

Stay safe out there ‘Ganders. Remember that recreational cannabis is only legal in Michigan for ages 21 and up—and it’s NEVER OK to get high and drive.
