Spend less time searching and more time vibing with these highly recommended Michigan-made cannabis products.

As a journalist who’s covered Michigan’s marijuana industry for years and a longtime cannabis consumer, I’ve tried just about everything on the shelves at several dozen dispensaries.

So, as summer comes to a close, I thought it would be a dope time to share some personal recommendations for a few of my all-time favorite Michigan-made cannabis products.

Weed can affect everyone differently. But I’ve found the following products to be a potent pairing for cooler autumn weather and cozier vibes—perfect for those chill moments when you just want to kick back, relax, and ease into the laid-back rhythm of “hoodie season” in Michigan.

And let’s be real: Your stash could probably use an upgrade, anyway. It can take forever to browse online dispensary menus. And nobody wants to waste their cash on mids.

Chill Strains for Chilly Nights

These strains, which can be found at various dispensaries across Michigan, all lean toward the indica side of the sativa-indica spectrum—making them a perfect match for a relaxing afternoon watching football at home or taking a leisurely stroll through your local park to see the fall colors.

Crunch Berries by Voyage Bloom

Voyage Bloom is my favorite brand on the shelves lately—and its latest drop doesn’t disappoint.

Crunch Berries is an indica-dominant hybrid strain that smells almost exactly like a bowl of Crunch Berries cereal, along with subtle hints of chocolate and gas. It’s grown just for those seeking a soothing body high and it provides a deep sense of peace, relaxation, and euphoria.

Voyage Bloom is a small-scale cannabis grower that takes time to focus on the “craftsmanship” that goes into growing weed. The team there is always trying to bring new flavors to the Michigan market, and you can check online to find dispensaries that carry the latest drops.

Permanent Marker by Favrd

Permanent Marker is a widely known strain cherished for living up to its namesake with a floral, soapy, gassy, mixture of candy funk that translates into the taste of, well, a permanent marker.

But don’t be deterred by the funk! This Seed Junky strain won the Leafly Strain of the Year in 2023, and dozens of Michigan cultivators are now trying to cultivate their own versions. Voyage Bloom does a decent job here—but there’s nobody in Michigan growing it better than FAVRD.

This strain is a real heavy hitter, though it won’t immediately knock you out. Expect a strong burst of creativity and euphoria before quickly winding down into a more relaxing body high.

FAVRD is licensed to grow up to 2,000 plants at an undisclosed location in Michigan, and it doesn’t keep much of an online presence beyond an Instagram page, a website where it sells a few pieces of clothing, and dozens of rave reviews on Reddit forums about Michigan weed.

Rotten Citrus or Washington Apple by Grown Rogue

Grown Rogue is the best budget weed brand in the business—with ounces available at dozens of dispensaries across Michigan (like Herbana) for well less than $100. And some of their latest strains are just perfect for enjoying some autumn flavors and getting mind-numbingly stoned.

Rotten Citrus is an exclusive strain from Grown Rogue made by crossing Gelonade and Sourdough #1 to create a sharp citrus inhale, followed by a doughy funk on the exhale. Expect a mellow high from this strain, great for (sitting in the passenger seat on) your next fall color tour.

Washington Apple is another relatively rare strain from Grown Rogue, and it’s known for being a favorite among budtenders who know how to find potent weed at a not-so-potent price. It smells like an apple. It tastes like an apple. After a while, it will leave you feeling like an apple.

Pre-Rolls for the Campfire

Bad news for those who don’t take the time to roll their own weed: Most of the pre-rolled joints at your local dispensary are filled with low-quality shake and trim. It’s a standard practice.

The good news: There are a few Michigan companies that don’t cut corners—and I know them.

Here are four trustworthy brands I’m smoking right now, all of which fill their pre-rolled joints with premium flower to keep you (and everyone else at the bonfire) stoned out of their gourds:

Uplyfted Cannabis Co.

Uplyfted is a cannabis company based in Warren that employs a dedicated team of master weed growers to churn out some of the highest-quality weed in the state. It’s usually not the cheapest option on the shelves, but you tend to get what you pay for—especially with pre-rolls.

Seed Junky

Seed Junky started in the early 2000s in a small garage in Southern California—but this brand is no longer turning out garage-quality weed. The company is known for its relentless “pheno-hunts” where it tracks down some of the most flavorful strains on the planet.

Pressure Pack

Pressure Pack strives to produce the best weed in Michigan. And because they also grow some of the priciest weed on the market, a pre-rolled joint can be the most affordable way to sample it.

But be prepared. These aren’t just any old spliffs. Pressure Pack produces some of the tastiest, most visually pleasing, smoothest burning joints that I’ve ever had the pleasure of smoking. I’m usually proud to bust out one of these when I’m with friends, simply because they’re so unique.

Pro Tip: It’s totally worth shelling out a few extra bucks for the glass-tipped, hash-infused joints.

Fall Flavors

I’ll admit it: I’m a total sucker for pumpkin spice. But unlike your local coffee shop, Michigan’s cannabis-infused edible industry doesn’t really seem to have jumped on the trend this year.

So, here are some other fall-ish flavors that you might enjoy instead:

S’Mores Barracuda Bar by Detroit Edibles

Detroit Edibles began as a cannabis-infused fudge company in Ann Arbor but has since rapidly expanded to include a wide range of premium edibles—including delicious chocolate bars.

This limited release with Lume is among the tastiest edibles I’ve had a chance to try this year—and there’s just something about that gooey marshmallow flavor that reminds me of fall.

Sweet Justice OG Ginger Ale

Sweet Justice is one of the latest Michigan-based brands to jump on the cannabis-infused beverage craze with a huge variety of carbonated drinks that mirror familiar flavors of pop.

Don’t expect the iconic flavor of Vernors—but the warm, spicy flavors make it a perfect hoodie season beverage that pairs well with other autumn favorites like cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

Order them directly online or find them in dispensaries like The Botanical Co

Peanut Budder by True North Collective

True North Collective has been producing top-notch edibles for Michiganders since 2019—and over the last few years, it has totally mastered the art of getting rid of that icky weed aftertaste.

The “Peanut Budder” lineup are jars filled with cannabis-infused peanut butter—either plain or topped with dessert toppings like white chocolate and bananas. Use it to make a sandwich for your next hiking trip or just dig in with a spoon. But be careful: Each jar contains 200 mg of THC.

Search online for True North Collective products at a dispensary near you.
