Celebrate the United States’ 250th birthday by getting involved in the upcoming election. This week offers opportunities to register voters in Detroit, advocate for LGBTQ+ rights in Traverse City, and hear from Michigan US Senate candidates during WOOD TV8’s debate or at events across the state.

Here’s a roundup of upcoming events and actions in Michigan:

Friday (July 3)

Abdul for US Senate: Grand Rapids Rally w/ Abdul and Congresswoman Delia Ramirez (Grand Rapids, 5:30-7:30 p.m.)

Attend the rally with Abdul El-Sayed and Congresswoman Delia Ramirez, and hear them speak and answer questions about what you would like to see from your next US Senator.

Saturday (July 4)

Michigan United Action: July 4th African Cultural Festival Voter Registration (Detroit, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.)

Help register attendees to vote at the 23rd Diaspora Annual African Cultural Festival. Training, snacks, and refreshments will be provided. 

Tuesday (July 7)

Mallory McMorrow for US Senate: Meet and Greet & Lunch (Muskegon Heights, 12-2 p.m.)

Join US Senate candidate Mallory McMorrow for a community meet and greet over lunch.

WOOD TV8: Michigan US Senate Candidate Debate-Democratic Party (Virtual, 7-8 p.m.)

Stream the US Senate Candidate Debate on WOOD TV8, woodtv.com, or WOOD TV+ to hear from the Democratic candidates in the 2026 US Senate election. 

Wednesday (July 8)

The Committee to Protect Health Care: Charting the Damage on the Anniversary of Medicaid Cuts (Kalamazoo, 6-7 p.m.)

Attend the town hall on the one-year anniversary of Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ to hear stories from physicians, medical professionals, and health care advocates on the harm Medicaid cuts have caused. 

Haley Stevens for US Senate: Relational Organizing Training (Virtual, 6-7 p.m.)

Receive training on the best way to talk to your network about the election in support of Haley Stevens for US Senate. 

Abdul for US Senate: Meet and Greet (Ferndale, 6:15-6:45 p.m.)

Join the meet and greet event with US Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.

Thursday (July 9)

Equality Michigan: Canvass Training – Knock Doors. Change Minds. Move Equality Forward (Traverse City, 5:30-7:30 p.m.)

Receive training, then knock doors to talk to and advance equality in Northern Michigan.
